01 · Kitting capabilities

What we kit.

Kits combine all components needed for a specific assembly. Customer receives complete kit instead of sourcing components separately.

Machined parts

Our manufacture

CNC machined parts produced in our shop. Verified to drawing before kitting.

Sheet metal parts

Our manufacture

Sheet metal parts (laser cut, formed) produced in our shop. Combined with CNC parts.

3D printed parts

Our manufacture

3D printed parts (SLA, MJF, SLS) for kits including non-functional or low-volume custom parts.

Standard fasteners

Sourced

Standard hardware (screws, bolts, nuts, washers) sourced from suppliers. Counted, verified, included.

Bearings & bushings

Sourced

Standard bearings and bushings from approved suppliers. Sealed packaging maintained.

Springs

Sourced or custom

Standard or custom springs included in kits. Compression, extension, torsion springs.

Seals and O-rings

Sourced

O-rings, seals, gaskets in correct material per kit specification.

Electrical components

FAQ

Kitting questions.

Without kitting: customer receives parts from multiple suppliers, sources standard hardware separately, counts and organizes before assembly. Easily 30-60 minutes labor per kit. With kitting: customer receives ready-to-assemble kit, goes directly to assembly. Kitting labor cost (us): typically $5-30 per kit depending on complexity. Customer labor saving: typically 2-3× our cost. Net win for customer at production volumes.
We verify each kit per customer-supplied BOM. Each line item in BOM is sourced/manufactured, counted, included. BOM mismatches (missing items, wrong quantities) caught and resolved before shipping. For BOM updates (revision changes), we coordinate change with customer to avoid kit obsolescence.
For standard hardware (fasteners, bearings, etc.): we maintain approved supplier list per customer requirements. Customer can specify: approved manufacturers (e.g., SKF bearings, McMaster fasteners), specific part numbers, country of origin restrictions, ITAR-eligible suppliers for defense kits. We source per customer specification.
Each kit lot includes traceability to: machined parts (our lot tracking), purchased components (supplier lot/date code recorded), assembly date, kit operator. For aerospace and medical kits, full traceability chain maintained — from kit ID back through all components to original mill/manufacturer lots.
Yes — kits often have custom packaging. CNC-cut foam insert with cavities for each component. Or dividers/compartments for organized storage. Or bags for fastener subsets. Customer-branded boxes available for premium kits. Packaging integrated with kit design — see custom packaging services for details.
Kitting economics improve with volume. Low-volume (10-50 kits): higher per-kit cost due to setup. Medium volume (100-500 kits): standard pricing. High volume (1000+ kits/month ongoing): efficient kitting line, lower per-kit cost. For ongoing programs, we can dedicate kitting line for consistent flow. Setup cost for kit configuration: one-time investment, amortized over kit production volume.
